Fitment: Year Model Generation Engine Quantity Per Vehicle 1995-1996 Montero Gen2 24V 3.0L V6 1 1997-2003 Montero Sport 24V 3.0L V6 1 100% OEM Parts Monteros have timing belt driven interference engines that require a timing belt service every 60,000 miles. The 2nd most common reason that we see Monteros end up in junkyards (#1 being collision damage) is a blown engine resulting from a timing failure. Furthermore, we have seen countless failures of cheap aftermarket timing belt parts. It is imperative to use only OEM parts for this service so we've gone ahead and put together a 100% OEM Timing Belt Kit that includes all 7 items that should always be replaced. Aside from having the correct parts, it's also crucial that these parts are installed correctly. That's why we include a copy of the Autodata instruction sheet in every kit. Kit Contents: 1x Timing Belt 1x Hydraulic Tensioner 1x Water Pump Kit 1x Tensioner Pulley 1x Idler Pulley 1x Large Coolant Pipe O-Ring 1x Thermostat Housing Gasket 1x Autodata Instruction sheet Additional Recommended Items (not included in this kit) - Parts that are often a good idea to replace while doing a timing belt service: Revised Crank bolt & Washer ( VP-MMC-K-M23-CBWS41 ) - If your Montero is still running with the original defective crank bolt, now is the time to get that out of there! Front Camshaft Seals ( VP-MMC-MD372536 ) - A common oil leak point, we recommend replacing these at least every other timing belt job (120,000 miles) Front Crankshaft Seal ( VP-MMC-MD372249 ) - Not as common of a leak point as the camshaft seals, but worth replacing every other timing belt job (120,000 miles) Crankshaft Blade ( VP-MMC-MD184901 ) - This is not something that needs to be replaced, but it does often get damaged during removal when trying to get to the crankshaft seal. So it's handy to have a new one on hand in case that happens so it won't bring the job to a standstill. Thermostat ( 1305A191 [ VP-MMC-1305A191 ] or 1305A239 [ VP-MMC-1305A239 ] ) - We believe in replacing the thermostat any time any major cooling system work is done or at the very least, every time you replace your coolant (usually every 5 years/100,000 miles). Radiator Cap ( MB660735 [ VP-MMC-MB660735 ] or MR481216 [ VP-MMC-MR481216 ] ) - A properly functioning radiator cap is an important but often overlooked part of a vehicle's cooling system.
